We applied this product 4 years ago and within a year the peeling started and we had black mold appear. It started spreading from one end of our deck to another. We have a very large deck and are now having to replace it. My husband has a large Hotsy heated pressure washer and it won’t touch the mold.

I just got off the phone with a rep in California. I was told to call back next week as they hope to have a contact for the class action lawsuit. I had trouble after the first application and Behr sent me another 4 gallon bucket and instructions on how to prep, spot treat and do a complete cover again. Well, as many probably know, when the bubbled/peeling portions are pulled up, you end up realizing how much more is not adhering to the deck. My concern is the cost I have in the paint, my labor of applying the paint, scraping the old and reapplying and now having to do it all again.
I think Behr should be held accountable. I put the deck over on my deck now it is cracking , chipping , and when I scrap the cracking up. Found out it is also rotting my boards,,,I put deck over on my deck July of 2016… now my deck is rotting.Behr DeckOver was suppose to good with guaranteed. Now it’s destroying my whole deck.

Now some of the wood has rotted away requiring full lumber replacement. Much of the remaining surface lumber is damaged from removing the paint. It is getting to the point now that replacing all the surface lumber will be a better option. Wish i had seen this class action suit last week . Used product after extensive cleaning, one day later bubbling appeared.

I would like to be added to the lawsuit also. Did our deck in Aug. of last year and more than 1/2 the deck needs to be redone. It peeled all over and now a few boards need to be replaced. Now we have to redo it and waste more time and money. I bought deckover after it was recommended at home depot.
I used DeckOver about 4 years ago and now my deck is rotting away. I have already replaced my deck boards and now my 4×4 post are starting to rot. So basically I am going to have to replace the whole deck.

But it was in the first 2 weeks of completion. Highly disturb that I have been out to this project multiple times to reapply. I am confident that I followed the directions on the can as far as cleaning and prepping the surface. In total shock that this is actually happening with this brand of paint. Behr should remove this product from the shelves until it can be resolved. Please add me to this class action lawsuit.
I would like to add to this action. Our large deck was prepared as explained and lasted less then 2 years. It is peeling and needs to be hand stripped to remove the mess.
This weekend I felt the pain described in all the comments. The deck over product should be pulled or reformulate. I will never purchase another Behr product nor will I shop at Home Depot again. Still waiting answer to my claim. Was told it would be settled in August, 2019. We were not aware of it either..we are currently trying to get it off so we can restrain 2 decks.
Glad your not having any trouble with it yet. Everybody else is including myself. Still living the nightmare of this awful paint 3+ years later. We used this product last year and now are deck and landscaping looks terrible. I had brought Behr paint one year ago. Clean the pouch let dry complete Then one year later the paint is coming off .
Made the mistake of apply a second coat the year after first coat to “fill in the new cracks”. Then, STUPID ME, applied a 3rd coat the next year to fix the problems from the prior 2 coats. Now sanding and trying to find the best ways to strip the lousy product completely off. TERIBLE PRODUCT. Totally false claims. Huge wrap around deck that looks terrible.
We took time off from work, got down on our hands and knees and scraped and sanded for days, we broke our backs. Not the way you want to spend time off, especially when this product was supposed to make things easier. We then followed the directions to a T and again within a month it was a total mess. Shame on us for believing their line of bull and trying it again. We can’t even walk on it as it is unsafe.
When it rains and blows in through the screen it leaves an oily feeling residue on the surface and also leaves a stain where the rain was. Filed a claim the end of last year. We’re still waiting for a refund. We had our receipts and photo proof of the horrible condition of our deck after applying this crap.
