When I called Behr Customer service, I was told that she could not discuss it because there was a class action lawsuit. Here we are 3 years later, and we have a peeling deck with at least 7 rotting boards. I am sure that more rotten boards will occur and we will have to replace the entire deck. Did two different decks each 16×20. Peeling needs completely redone.
You can add us in your law suits. I am sure we have all the receipts from purchasing this horrible product. Deckover has made my summers horrible. BEHR sent me 6 more gallons of this crap to redo my deck. Redid it and have had to deal with peeling and chipping …then scraping and reapplying for the last 4 years.

Had to remove and re-do deck with another product. A lot of time and energy wasted. Worst product ever after only one year. My husband wanted a product that would require low upkeep. Well now he has passed away and I have more upkeep than ever. Has to be redone but it surely won’t be a Behr product.

Using this product was a mistake. Coverage claims on the can are misrepresented. Takes almost twice as much as claimed. This stuff doesn’t hold up and now what? Recoat or scrape off or replace wood. We applied 2 gallons to a pier and within a year it peeled terribly.

We used this product, and it did chip and bubble. We had to rent a sander and try to remove the stain.

I also used the Behr Deck Over and less than 18 months it’s peeling like crazy. I am dissatisfied , especially with the cost and what Behr and Home Depot advertised it would do. This product didn’t even hold up two years. Now I have to prepare to remove it and go with another cover, and possible replace some wood work also.
So I sanded it down and repainted it with the Opaque which did the same thing. By year four I sanded the deck down again and applied the Deckover textured paint. Home Depot said this one would work. But at least I won’t slip on the deck.
The paint failed all over on flat long boards, spindles, bracing etc. I had high hopes for it, even bought two colors for two pretty large decks and walk way. By the end of the summer it was cracking all over!! Was told by home depot it must have been a “bad batch” and to call the company to get a replacement. We also purchased based on claim of maintain, spliters, etc.
Purchased four gallons of Deck Over a year and a half ago. Paint began to bubble up after eight months. It began to completely peel away from the surface after a year. Now we have to replace our entire deck because our pressure treated lumber has rotted. Glad someone is finally holding them accountable for this worthless product.
I put it on my entire deck closely following the directions and it is already peeling and chipping. Now I am going to have to pay someone to remove it. I purchased 2 five gallon buckets in November 2016.
Well had someone come out estimates to fix were $6000. Well Behr gave us no where close to that. Had someone do some sanding,use stripper chemical, power wash nothing worked to get it off completely. We were told it was a completely tear down start over job.
Moisture gets trapped underneath the paint which is terrible for the wood. Had someone come out to look at our deck as the wood that was in good condition before applying DeckOver is now rotting out. They told us we never should’ve applied a product like this as the moisture gets trapped in and under the cracks and rots.
A couple years ago, I used about ten gallons of Deckover…following the directions to the letter. Even purchasing the recommended Behr deck cleaner..again following the directions to the letter. The Deckoverbubbled and peeled off before the summer was over. I just paid $3000 to have my deck professionally stripped and restained.
May of 2018, I was in the Home Depot, and talked to a Behr representative. The Behr representative did not respond. The effort to remove this faulty product far outweighs the cost of the paint itself and that is an understatement. In addition to this i used this on my own deck which is 5 times as large am now discovering the same thing. Knowing the time I have put into trying to strip my mother’s deck I am not looking forward to a much bigger recovery project. When spraying vertical surfaces, apply a very thin coat and do not back brush/roll.
